Austin Hazlehurst
Senior Finance & Agrivoltaics Analyst
Austin was born and raised in Colorado, where he developed a strong appreciation for nature at an early age. Austin graduated from Colorado State University with a BS in Business Administration, with Finance and Marketing concentrations.
After graduation, Austin started working as a financial analyst for utility-scale renewable energy developers. Austin also began volunteering as a tour guide at Jack’s Solar Garden in Longmont, Colorado, beginning in the project’s first growing season.
Austin saw the promise of agrivoltaics at Jack’s Solar Garden and felt a strong calling to combine his background in renewable energy with his values for promoting nature.
After 3 years in the utility-scale industry, Austin left to pursue a full-time career in agrivoltaics. Austin loves working in agrivoltaics, and he is eager to expand multi-use land practices at clean energy projects.
Outside of work, Austin loves to hike, play basketball, and play guitar.
“Elevated solar helps keep farmland farming.
We no longer need to have solar take farmland out of production to supply clean energy at the expense of growing food, farm viability, soil quality, and clean water. That is not a net benefit.
We must not lose sight of the land. If we take care of the land, then the land will take care of us.”
